Season 2: Episode 2
Episode 2: Icey Apology
Introduction:
To be honest, not much happened in this episode. It was basically the housewives discussing what was talked about in the last episode, and that was about it. However, I love watching Jen Shash dig herself deeper and deeper into the hole she has created, so to me, that was a win.
Now I’ll be breaking down the housewives and sharing my opinions on each of them from this episode:
Jen Shah
Jen had a conversation with her nephew about how she needs to work on bettering her relationships. From that conversation, she decides to call up Heather, after not speaking with her for almost 2 months after last season's reunion, and asks her to meet so they can catch up. Later Jen has Lisa and Jennie over and Lisa tells Jen that Merideth is still upset with her about liking tweets about her son Brooks. Then, Jen and Heather have their meet-up in some random ice caves and Jen says she misses their friendship. Heather, however, confronts Jen with screenshots of insults that Jen has said online. These insults include: Comparing Heather to a sea mammal and calling her a liar, manipulator, and racist. Jen claims that these insults did not come from her, even though they came from her verified account (interesting). She then blames Heather for believing things she has seen online and then accuses the friend group of not treating her the same because she a a woman of color. Then in Heather's confessional, she said that Jen is actually treated differently because of her temper and is treated better than all the other women because of her short fuse.
My take:
Jen 100% said those things about Heather and I don't believe that the screenshots were faked. Again we see Jen not taking any responsibility for her actions and playing the victim when she gets accused of being in the wrong. Big eye roll for me during that whole conversation she had with Heather.Meredith Marks
Merideth has dinner with her husband Seth and they talk again about how Jen is still liking and reposting tweets about their son Brooks's sexuality. Then, Merideth is not in the rest of the episode. My take:
Merideth still wants Jen to apologize to her family which I think is fair. I don’t understand why Jen is continuing to like these tweets. Like does she not realize that this is causing a problem???Lisa Barlow
Lisa goes with Jennie to Jens's house to introduce Jennie. She fills Jen in on why Merideth is upset with her about the Brooks situation. Then Jen goes into another defensive rant about how she is always expected to apologize. My take:
Lisa is trying to play peacemaker between Jen and Merideth so I give her props because this is a messy situation to be in the middle of. I'm guessing this was not the ideal first impression for Jennie meeting one of Lisa's friends.Heather Gay
Heather goes shopping with Whitney and tells her that she is going to be meeting up with Jen and Whitney shares her concerns about Heather rekindling her friendship with Jen.Then Heather goes to the ice caves to meet Jen. Heather listens to what Jen has to say and then fires back with the screenshots of the insults Jen has called her. Heather is confused by Jens's response because she denies responsibility and flips the conversation onto her own struggles. Then Heather decides that she is willing to work on their friendship but it will take her time to be able to trust her again.
My take:
If I were Heather I would stay far away from Jen at this point, but, Heather is a very forging woman. I don't see this going well though.Whitney Rose
There is not much from Whitney in this episode. She talks to her family about how she wants to put more responsibility on the kids by making a chore chart and also tells her husband she wants more of a team effort from him. She then shares that this is because she really wants to focus on her skincare brand but she also feels constantly busy.My take:
I think it is fair for Whitney to want more time to work on her business. Other than that, no opinions about her in this episode.
Mary Crosby:
Mary has her cousin over to help her with the interior design of her house. She then confides in him that she is worried about her son because he is in the "teenager stages" and she feels like he cannot take care of himself. My take:
Honestly, this was not that interesting to me and that’s all I have to say about Mary this week.
Jennie Nguyen
In this episode, Jennie gets to observe the drama between Jen and Merideth from Jen's perspective when she goes with Lisa to Jen's house. She just sits and listens and is not shown giving any input on the situation. Then later, we see Jennie and her three kids making dinner and her husband brings up the idea of having more children and Jen says that she does not want more kids.
My take:
I hope that Jennie can see that Jen is in the wrong with the whole Jen vs. Merideth situation. Also, I feel like her husband wanting more kids is going to be her whole storyline this season but I hope I'm wrong because she actually seems like an interesting person.
Final thoughts
- Jen, what are you doing?
- Mary, Whitney, and Merideth need more screen time
- Heather needs to set some major boundaries if she is going to move forward with this friendship with Jen
